Dad's Visit to Copenhagen

Finally October 14th was here and that meant it was time for my first visitor in Copenhagen! Dad got in early on Friday morning and spent the day exploring while I was in class. Friday night we had a dinner with 3 other families who have host students. The dinner was a lot of fun and gave my dad a chance to see a different side of Danish culture. Any dinner party with the Klausens is really fun, so I was glad that he got a chance to experience it too!

Saturday morning I was a little worried when he did not show up at the train station when he was supposed to. Luckily, he managed to get there a little late and we headed to Kronburg Castle with Klaus, Annette, and Tim.  The castle itself was beautiful and even had a mote! Shakespeare's play, Hamlet, takes place here, but in his play it was called Elsinore. We took a tour of the church and the dungeons . It was so weird to think that people actually lived there without light.  The soliders who lived in the dunegons were mainly prisoners who had to serve and work. Definitely not the best lifestyle!

Saturday night dad got to meet my two closest friends, Eileen and Liz, when we all went out to dinner at our favorite place, Stella's Cafe. Of course we had to get a serving of the best nachos in the world along with a classic Carlsberg beer and a really tasty burger. I don't think dad hated the meal because Sunday night after we walked around Copenhagen all day seeing the city we went back and had some more nachos and hot tomato soup. A perfect meal

Monday was our last day together before he headed back home early Tuesday morning, so I took him to see the church in Christianhavn. This time rather than just looking at the tower on top, we actually climbed it to see a great view of Copenhagen!

It was so great having him come and visit. Its always nice to see a familiar face around, and thankfully this was just the start of seeing people from back home!
